Dinosaur Train Giveaway

With school nearing to start here it’s getting pretty exciting for everyone but there are those new students who are just going to start out this year in Kindergarten and will be a little worried. We don’t have to worry about that just because of the fact that Olivia will be in the 1st grade but I remember last year on her first day of school and how she was worried because she really didn’t know anyone at all in her class. Well this year is going to be a little different but for those parents who are just going to send their child off for their very first day of school well here’s something for you all to enjoy. I have been given the opportunity to host a wonderful giveaway from PBS Kids “Dinosaur Train” that will help kick the new school year off!

This past Friday, August 20th PBS Kids just aired the Premier of Dinosaur Train Under the Sea. I received an advanced copy of the show to be able to provide this review and also am lucky enough to be able to host a giveaway too! Dinosaur Train has been a huge hit in our household because not only does it include dinosaurs but it also incorporates learning about the species and more. I love how kid friendly it is of course and how Olivia will sit down and watch the movie and will watch the shows without getting up. She has fallen in love with the characters and has even learned a lot about the different kinds of dinosaurs there are. I don’t have a problem either with Olivia getting up and playing online through PBS Kids just to learn more online and be able to print different things out. I hope and pray that Olivia will continue to learn more through the programming on PBS Kids and hope that she will continue to play online with the kid friendly/worry free site. Here is a little information on the DVD that 1 lucky reader will receive:

DINOSAUR TRAIN: Dinosaurs Under The Sea is presented in widescreen with Dolby Digital
English Stereo. The run time is 120 minutes. The DVD includes the following:
Adventures:
• Elmer Elasmosaurus
• Carla Cretoxyrhina
• The Amazing Michelinoceras Brothers
• Paulie Pliosaurus
• Elmer Visits the Desert
• Shiny’s Sea Shells
• Jess Hesperornis
• The Old Spinosaurus and the Sea

Special Features:
• Games
• Coloring Pages and Dinosaur Reference Guide
• Parents’ Information

Now here are the requirements to enter in this giveaway:

  • You must live and have a valid US Address.
  • Enter in the giveaway by September 9th at 3:00pm
  • To get an extra entry you may tweet this giveaway and let me know the link please.
  • Good Luck to all!

Need Glasses? Check out Just Eyewear!

I a few months ago received a nice pair of glasses online from Just Eyewear to review. I do have to wear glasses and unfortunately I don’t wear them as often as I should like now for instance. But I do have to wear them when my eyes are extremely tired and also when I drive in the rain. I should have had them on last weekend when I went to Maryland because it was raining horribly on my way home last Sunday but silly me left them at home which was 5 hours away from home. Ok back to the review…when I first received them it was right after I came back from Disney World and I have to say they are awesome. They are very lightweight and they are very nice looking on me. The website Just Eyewear is very nice too and easy to navigate through too. Who would have ever thought that ordering glasses online would be as easy as 1, 2, 3. All I had to do was send in my prescription to them and choose the style that I wanted and bam I got the order not long afterwards.

I love some of the other nice styles out there and I have to say that I wish I had ordered a pair of sunglasses instead of the glasses but that’s ok because the next time that I get paid I’m going to get a pair for my car. I have the other ones which honestly I like better than the pair I got from another retailer whose name I will not say. But I feel like ordering prescription glasses online is so much easier and more convenient than it is going into the store and ordering them, then having to leave without them and then going back and getting them. Ugh! I hated doing that when I got my other glasses. I can’t wait to order more in the near future and hopefully get a nice stylish pair of sunglasses too. Plus the prices are so much cheaper than they are in the retail stores out there. I can actually afford the ones through Just Eyewear on my budget that I have and just like everyone else has. So next time you need to get glasses why not buy glasses online, you will love them! Life is expensive these days but your eyewear don’t have to be!

Needing Space?

Ever since I moved back in with my parents I have to say that I have collected more crap than anything. I am notorious for going shopping and bringing home stuff that I don’t need or will never use. I have though found myself looking for ways to make more room in my closets, dressers and putting things up that Olivia doesn’t need or use. I received a few weeks ago a nice package from Space Bag to try and review so that is what I did one day. I went into Olivia’s room and gathered together a bunch of stuffed animals, comforters and clothing and decided to use the Space Bag’s.

I found that the Space Bag’s ended up working perfectly for what we needed and I fell in love with them. I put Olivia’s two giant comforters into the X-Large Space Bag and of course took a  picture of what the before looked like….

Then I used the Central Vac and got all of the air out of the bag and items inside the bag. Here is what the results were…

I love how easy it was to stuff the items into the bag and then it was so much fun to watch the air being sucked out of the items. Olivia had fun doing this too and it was something that I know will be dust free and more while being stored in the attic and under the beds. I have more things that I would like to put away and keep away from Olivia until the winter time which doesn’t look like it’s going to be getting here soon enough. Hahaha! I highly recommend this product because for me I would have been lost without these! They totally Rock!!!

“Thank you to Space Bag who provided the products to me to review!”

Kids Bop 18

Music has always been a big thing in our household because I have grown up listening to it all the time. I have to say that I think Olivia has inherited that from me and she is always dancing and singing to just about everything that comes on the radio or on one of my cd’s. The one thing that I am worried about her listening to some of the songs that I enjoy that has bad language in it. But thanks to the folks at Kids Bop they have once again come out with another great CD for the kids to listen to. Thanks to Kids Bop we were sent the newest Kids Bop 18 CD to listen to and review. Olivia loves this newest CD, and some of her favorite songs on this disc are “Hey, Soul Sister”, “Baby”, “Telephone” and “Break Your Heart.” There are more favorite songs that she loves but those are her ultimate favorites that she continues to ask for me to replay over and over again. I’ve listened to the disc with her in the car and found that most of the songs are pretty much similar to what my songs sound like minus the sexual and bad language in it. I definitely love Kids Bop CD’s because they have taken regular songs and made them safe for the kids to listen to. I highly suggest listening to Kids Bop CD’s with your kids and getting this new album which is out in most major retailers out there plus you can get it at iTunes as well. The kids will Love you for this one!

All New VeggieTales DVD: Sweetpea Beauty

As you all know we love VeggieTales in our house not only for Olivia but we also share them with our friends and family whenever they come over to play or stay the night. Well we received the All New VeggieTales DVD “Sweetpea Beauty” to review and Olivia has not let that movie out of her sight long enough to share it with others. “Sweetpea Beauty” is a tale of how God is working in her heart to help her know what matters the most in her life and what shouldn’t. It teaches children and especially girls that we can’t be insecure about everything that we might think would matter because what matters the most is God’s Love and what he has planned for us in the future. This is a very sweet movie and I am never worried about Olivia watching this movie. It’s something that I’m going to share with a few friends who have small little girls because even now a days they are more insecure than ever and it’s something that we need to teach them what to be secure about and what not to be. Also included on this DVD is the almost classic tale of “Snoodlerella” which is another super cute movie.

“Sweetpea Beauty” is available to all out there on Tuesday, August 3rd at all major retailers where you would get other VeggieTales DVD’s. Check out this Cute Clip/Trailer from the Movie:

We received this complimentary DVD from Big Idea. Thank you for allowing us to review this amazing movie. We love it!

Sid The Science Kid Microphone Review

Does your child love to watch Sid the Science Kid on PBS Kids? Olivia loves to watch this show and all of the DVD’s out there. She is always going around asking science related questions like why is the sky blue, how does it snow and where does rain come from? After being first introduced to Sid the Science Kid about a year ago Olivia has learned so much. But what is the one thing that Sid is famous for besides his very interesting questions? If you guessed his microphone then you are correct. Olivia normally goes around with her so called microphone that she has found in the house and will ask me questions and sing and dance with it. But when I received a Sid the Science Kid Microphone to giveaway that was it…Olivia was hooked on this toy. Now this was supposed to be the one I was to giveaway but I have a very bright 6 year old who figured out how to take the microphone out of the package when I wasn’t looking and she has now claimed it as her own. So instead of being able now to give this toy away I am doing a review on it. I do apologize to all those out there who wants one but I can say this the makers of Sid the Science Kid, The Jim Henson Company and Hasbro came out with a great product. Olivia loves to take this microphone and ask questions that not even I can answer without having to google them up. Like one of the questions that she asked was “how big is an octopus’ brain?” I had to tell her a little fib but I felt bad because I had to come home and google it up.

This microphone is awesome because not only does it make your child feel like they are part of the show but it also will give them confidence in asking the questions that they might have always wanted to know. I mean what preschooler doesn’t like watching Sid the Science Kid? I don’t know of any actually. He is very popular in my eyes with my child and with my best friends child. They both can sit there all day if we’d let them and watch the show or DVD’s. But being the good parents we can be we ask them to hold off on all day but we can now let them loose with the microphone and let them question each other or come up to us and ask the questions. This microphone is available in stores like Target or where any Hasbro Toy is sold for only $14.99. Worth is in my eyes and I’m sure it is in my best friends eyes too.

The Sweet By and By by Sara Evans

The Sweet By and By by Sara Evans is a book that I never thought I would like but I ended up loving the book. Have you ever tried to move on in your life without facing your past? I have done that several times in my life and it’s sometimes a little difficult to face the future and even the current events if your life because you sometimes are pushing away what has happened to your life in the past. I received “The Sweet’ By and By” written by Sara Evans from Thomas Nelson Publishing Group in order to help me write a review on this book. This book along is a wonderful book to read and definitely makes you rethink your life and the way it is heading. Sara Evans is A Best Selling Multi-Platinum Recording Artist in Country music and all of her songs have a story to tell of something that has happened in her life or something that she has a feeling will happen. This book is no different. It tells about Jade who is getting married whose life takes a turn for something that she never thought would happen. All of the events that comes up days before she is getting married has a heartfelt story to it.

I really enjoyed reading this book and had a hard time putting it down. I still have the book to this day sitting next to my bed for me to pick up and read if I get a chance to or when I am finished reading the other books that I am finished reading at the current time. I have already told others about this book and I hope that I will be able to read more books from Sara Evans soon! She’s gotten a talent not only for singing and writing songs but now has writing a book under her belt too. This book is available at Thomas Nelson online and also at Amazon.com. I highly recommend this book to those who are looking for a good book to sit down and read.

Perfectly Dateless Book Review

When I went to Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago I brought along this book because I needed something good to read while laying out on the beach and at the pool. That’s the good thing about going to the beach is not only to relax but to read a good book too. I was sent a book a few weeks before I left for the beach called Perfectly Dateless by Kristin Billerbeck. The book is about how a teenage girl who hasn’t ever been on a date before is in her senior year of high school and she is on the hunt for a prom date. In all honesty this book and the character reminded me so much of myself when I was in school. Not only did I not have a boyfriend in high school but I also was on the hunt for a prom date my senior year as well. Well Daisy Crispin had to come up with a plan to find a date in 196 days but she had her daily and monthly challenges in getting that completed. Plus having parents that were very overprotective didn’t help either. The book is well written and I have to commend Kristin on how she wrote this book. It brought back memories from my own high school journey and wanted me to want to do it over again (if I could that is.) I’m not going to give away anymore information on what happens in the book but it’s filled with laughter, comedy and romance as well. It’s something that every teenage girl would want to read and those women who are looking to read something to bring back those precious memories that you have not thought about in years.

Perfectly Dateless will be available in July 2010 at your favorite Revell bookseller. I was sent a complimentary copy of this book from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group to be able to complete my review.

Shoulder Bags and Shooting Book Review

I have always enjoyed reading mystery books because you never know what will happen in the beginning, middle and end of the book. Well who would have ever thought of coming up with a wonderful idea in having a girly girl mystery? I really enjoyed reading this book and enjoyed trying to find out the mystery during the story line. I got the book from FSB Media to read. Here is an article that I’m sure every woman and girl would love to read! I highly recommend reading the book. You never know…you might enjoy the book as much as I did.

Great Places to Score a Discount Designer Handbag
By Dorothy Howell,
Author of Shoulder Bags and Shootings: A Haley Randolph Mystery

You don’t have to dress less-than-glam during these hard economic times — not when shopping centers and Internet sites are flush with places to snag a genuine designer handbag at a deeply discounted price.

Stores selling discounted handbags range from small, intimate vintage and consignment shops to large department stores, and even larger outlet malls. Internet sites offer a wide range of styles, colors, and designer names.

The Premium Outlets and the Tanger Outlets far and away have the largest concentration of discounted designer merchandise. Along with handbag stores such as Coach, Judith Leiber, Kate Spade and Dooney & Bourke, you’ll find a fantastic array of designer stores. Michael Kors, Liz Clairborne, Prada, DKNY, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Burberry, along with many others, carry everything from clothing to shoes, and a sampling of their handbag lines.

The Premium Outlets have over 40 locations nationwide, along with malls in Puerto Rico, Japan, Korea, and Mexico. Tanger Outl

et has over 30 locations in the U.S. Both offer AAA and AARP member discounts. Join th

eir VIP Club and visit their Web sites for coupons and special offers. Check out their seasonal sales weekends and national promotions for extra savings in addition to everyday discounts.

First, and in some cases, second quality mercha

ndise is available. You’ll have to bring along a magnifying glass to find flaws, though. Most are detectable only to the factory-trained eye.

These outlet stores are great places to shop. There’s no digging through clearance bins or blowing the dust off of merchandise that’s

been sitting around for months. The stores are immaculate, the shelves are orderly and well stocked. The staffs are knowledgeable and helpful, the same as you’ll find in their retail stores. Many times, after making your selection, the clerk can bring you a “fresh” bag from the stock room. Care is taken to wrap your treasure in the store’s s

ignature tissue paper, and deposit it into their trademark shopping bag.

Discounts typically run 20% to 40% off the MSRP, with deeper cuts of up to 65% off of sale and clearance items. Many of these stores

offer a full guarantee on their products, plus a money back return policy. But, as with any store, ask before you buy. Keep in mind that these outlet malls are huge, so wear comfortable shoes and plan for a full day of shopping.

Great bargains can be found in retail giants such as Macy’s and Dillard’s Department Stores. These discounts are usually offered seasonally so you’ll have to watch for them. The selection of these bags will b

e limited, but you can expect to pay from 20% to 30% off their retail prices.

Leading discount department stores such as Ross Dress For Less, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls offer designer handbags. The se

lection varies. You might find a Diane von Furstenberg, Betsy Johnson or a Fossil bag mixed in with their non-designer bags. Merchandise varies from location to location. These are no-frills stores. If you don’t mind digging for a good deal, you can expect to save 20% to 60% off of department store prices.

Some of the most sought-after designer brands are offered at Websites such as Rue LaLa and Gilt Group. These sites offer members-only pricing on luxury brands, usually for a limited time. Shop early. Expect to pay sales prices of up to 70% off retail.

The website e-bay, along with many other online sites, offers designer handbags at considerable savings. The selection is wide and varied. New as well as used purses are available. You’ll have to pay shipping costs, in most cases, so take that into consideration when looking at their prices.

Consignment stores and vintage shops are also good places to find a handbag at a low price. Keep in mind these purses are gently used. Designer names and selection will vary widely. Inventory fluctuates so it’s good to check back often. Savings can be considerable.

No matter where you choose to shop for your designer handbag, it’s important that you can distinguish a genuine bag from a knock-off. Read product descriptions carefully. Do your homework. Know the tell-tale signs

of a counterfeit bag. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

There’s no need to deny yourself the joy of sporting a designer handbag when so many places offer great merchandise and outstanding discounts to the everyday fashionista. Get out and see what’s available. Shop

ping for your new bag is half the fun!
